Stripdagen Haarlem is the largest comics-festival of the northern countries, with a total of fifty exhibitions, book fairs, concerts, lectures, workshops and experiments with comics & new media. Main focus of the 10th edition on 5 and 6 june is: comics from Eastern-Europe!
The exhibition ‘More weird, more good: Komiks from the other half’ shows work by Dace Sietina (Latvia), Edik Katykhin (Russia), Tomas Kucerovsky (Czech Republic), Roland Pilcz (Hungary), Marzena Sowa & Sylvain Savoia (Poland) and Igor Hofbauer (Croatia). In this exhibition we will also show a collection of comics magazines in Eastern-European countries. The Last Match, an exhibition from Riga (Latvia), can also be seen in this venue.
Jakup Ferri from Kosovo, Cyprian Koscielniak from Poland and Levan Busurashvili from Georgia each have their own exhibitions, we will show films by Ivan Maximov from Russia. The band La Minor, also from Russia, will give a concert. Katarina Mirovic from Slovenia will give a lecture about Stripburger. Spartak – Interdisciplinary Platform for Eastern Europe, will give a lecture about Asta Sme: documentary comics about the Roma in the Czech Republic. End of april the Dutch Comics Foundation (SBN) will launch a database in English with information about artists, festivals, and magazines in he Eastern-European countries.
